Hyegyung Kim focuses on recreating traditional visual motifs of exquisite beauty found in Korean & East Asian culture into a new form of media art that embraces the aesthetics of contemporary composition and digital technology. Traditional craft objects such as refined porcelain and antique wooden furniture become modern digital canvases for projection mapping, while Kim's interactive media art integrates light, sound, animation, and landscape paintings in motion-sensing digital façades. Kim is a media artist, best selling author of digital art books, and design educator based in Korea. She received her MFA in Digital Media Design from Hongik University and her PhD in Visual & Multimedia Design from HanYang University in Korea. She is an adjunct faculty at SungKyunKwan University, Sookmyung Women's University and HanYang University. Kim has participated in numerous domestic and international invitational exhibitions & Biennales including the 2020 Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture’s Media Art event and the 2017 Cheongju International Craft Biennale in Korea.
